Shopping Wreckage.

My boyfriend came to see me this weekend, and I also got paid yesturday, so what better way to celebrate than to go for a little shop? I wasn't really planning on buying much, and really...i don't think i did too bad, no serious damage anyway ;)

First stop was superdrug where I bought the following things:
First, I picked up the Rimmel London moisture renew lipstick in "Nude Delight". This colour is a really light wearable nude, it's also very pigmented and goes on very smooth. I have really dry chapped lips most of the time, but this lipstick doesn't accentuate that, which i like because i find alot of lipsticks have the tendency to do that. I also found that it has a great staying power! And was only £4.37!
I then went over to the Gosh counter where I noticed they had a 3 for 2 deal...how can you not get roped into that? I picked up my holy grail under eye concealer (no 2), a "Cool lip jam" in 107 and a foundation brush. The lipgloss is really nice, it's just the right consistency (not too sticky, not too runny) althought i do wish it had a little more pigmentation. It comes out quite sheer, but then i didn't exactly pick a very daring colour! I did question the "cool" in it's title, but after applying it, i can see exactly why. It has a tingling cooling sensation, almost as if you were applying a peppermint lipgloss, although this smells of sweets :) another bonus. The foundation brush appealed to me because i have been using the mac 187 brush to do my foundation, but i have found that its started to make it look streaky, so thought i would try something else. It's SO soft, I'm looking forward to trying it out. Anybody else tried it?

After superdrug i went to LUSH *sighs* that place has me hooked. They were handing out free fruit today, crazy times..although it was amazing to see the amount of people that didnt take anything, maybe they thought there was a catch..haha bit of psychology for you there. Anyway...These are my purchases...
I appologise if you're sick of seeing things from LUSH, but i really don't care :)

On the left is the "vanilla founatin" bath ballistic, This has the same scent as the heavenilli massage bar, which i love. Then next to that is "ma bar" which is a chocolate and honey toffee bubble bar. I really want to eat this. :( Then the pretty flowery one is called "Pop in the bath" (not as original or catchy as the other names) but smells gorgey.

The hand cream (on the right) is called "handy gurugu". The lady in lush said it was the most moisturising of the hand creams. This stuff is amazing. I LOVE it. I can see myself buying pot after pot of this and applying it religiously. It soaks in so quickly, and doesn't leave your hands feeling greasy, yet it is so moisturising. The texture is alot like sudocrem, quite thick but also very fluffy and light. If you have dry hands like me, try this out.

In H&M i was browsing through the makeup and found these, I am super surprised by their pigmentation, i think they were £2.99 each!
The First is a gorgeous silver glitter dark grey. It looks quite black in real life, but on the picture it has come out quite alot lighter. The second is a gorgeous shimmery golden brown, i LOVE this colour. They are about the same size as a Mac blush. Look how pigmented they are with one swipe!I also picked up this pretty pale pink lipgloss...this tastes of watermelon. It's not very pigmented but hey, for £3.99 it's bloody amazing. It has a really nice consistency too!

I also picked these up from "Topshop" and "Cult"

Thought both would look good with leggings :) Hope you've all had a good saturday!

Backstage at LFW - Rachel Freire "Future Noir"

Just a pre warning, this is a long blog post, packed full of images and videos but i hope you find it as interesting as i did being there.
On Tuesday, i was invited by Jack Saundercock (head of makeup) to go backstage at one of the shows for London Fashion Week. The designer was Rachel Freire and her collection was called "Future Noir".
I'm no fashion expert, although i am extremely interested in art, textiles & trends, i can't say i'm much of a fashion journalist (in fact, i'm not one at all), so don't expect a huge in depth spectacle, merely just my personal thoughts, opinions and observations.

The collection involved a lot of reflective strips , black latex leggings/body suits, mirrors, geometric shoes, cassette tape, a mixture of nude & brown & some truly amazing headpieces. The reflective strips are not something i can say i've ever seen incorporated within a piece of clothing..besides the fluorescent jackets we use for safety reasons, and they certainly aren't the most flattering thing to wear i think you'll agree.
I also love the variety of textures Rachel used in her collection..from floating, draping & inter-twining to very tight latex, body suits & very structured pieces.
There really was an outfit to please every fashionista.

The above image was one of my favourite outfits of hers. Her inspiration came from a soccer players uniform & the very structured, protective shoulder gear they wear. I love the mirrors & the reflective strips teamed with the simplicity of the nude body suit & pvc holdups.
I think she has created a fantastic range, there were simpler designs and a lot more outrageous ones. The shoes were incredible, how they walked i have no idea. It was fascinating to see how much detail had gone into every garment & how well the models exhibited them.

The makeup was also amazing. Jack had really thought of everything. With the title of the collection being "Future Noir" he wanted to portray this in the makeup. Using dark edgy colours along with the contrasting white's and greys made the makeup futuristic & geometric. I also think the striking white worked very well with the reflective strips used in some of the models outfits. Jack described it as a "Cybotic Army".

What makeup was used?

What skincare did they use on the models?

How was the look created?

It was amazing being able to see all the products & effort which went into making the models look so amazing. Not only that, but all the thought that Jack had clearly put into his makeup to fullfill the title of Rachel's collection. Makeup is an art, and that really does come across when you see all the imagination & inspiration which is put into it.
After spending time backstage with Jack and the rest of the team and seeing first hand the products used, i definitely wanted to get my hands on the Jemma Kidd palettes & the lipstick in "Peggy", as you all know, i'm a total sucker for nudes & this one is perfect & highly pigmented & at such a good price. Jemma Kidd is sold in most Space NK stores if anyone else in interested. I also really want to try out the Dermalogica dry skin lotions & potions that Jack mentions in the video above. My skin becomes dry very easily during winter, and the things he spoke about sounded like something i definitely want to try out.

Overall it was an amazing experience being at the show & thank you Jack for giving me the oppertunity to see how things work at LFW, on the catwalk but also backstage.

Someday Summary - Saturday

I'm sorry i've not updated in a while. I've been working like a mad woman & had various other things going on with my life. Some not so enjoyable & others slightly more positive. I'm super pleased that the sun has decided to rear it's little head today, sprinkles a bit of happiness about the place doesn't it...unless of course you are Edward Cullen, in which case I feel sorry for you.

I slept on my neck funny last night. I'm not sure how I do this, but this is the second time in about 10 days in exactly the same place. It's SO painful. I have a constant slant to the right. I look like a weirdo. If i try and keep my head straight, it just hurts. I need someone to give me a damn good neck massage. My sleep pattern has been well and truely messed up due to the fact i've had a crappy few weeks, and my mattress is so hard and lumpy that it was starting to give me bruises on my hips. Forking out for a new mattress certainly wasn't on the agenda. If I had the spare cash lying around for such luxuries, I definitely would have, but alas, I do not. My Gpa (thats grandad) came over & flipped my mattress for me & then my lovely Nan bought me a mattress topper. They obviously felt sorry for this little princess and the pea, although in this case, no princess and no pea just masses of springs and various other metal contraptions & an average girl. So, i've finally started getting a decent nights sleep. I say this, but i was awake from 10pm-4am last night after napping at 8pm & awoke with a wonky head. Just great. Can anyone suggest any pillows or anything which might help? I've heard that memory foam ones are good.

I've started with YouTube again. I know it's not to everyone's taste, and that some of you may think "why is she bothering?", but i recieved so many emails and messages from people asking me to come back, and i feel like sometimes it's easier for me to show you things via video. Maybe even this way I can do a few hair tutorials as the thought of capturing any form of "tutorial" through photographs was quite the chore & would have been extremely tedious. I still absolutely despise the way I sound, the things I say & the stupid hand gestures and faces I make, but obviously I cant help that. haha. I have also discovered that I say "Like" and "Literally" far too much...It's literally like so annoying. ;)
I lost a lot of confidence over the last year, and it's only really now that I can sit down in front of a camera & feel brave enough to upload it for you anyone/everyone to see. I've decided not to let any negativity affect me, and with anything on the internet, there will be some. Go and subscribe if you want to, obviously you dont have to but it would be nice if you did. Might be nice for some of you to see me in 3d...moving and that. Do let me know what you want me to do videos on. I have a feeling this time i'll stick around.

I'll leave you with a few photographs that I have saved as little reminders which have made me feel a lot better about myself recently. Bit psychological, and unlike me, but I thought i'd share them with you as they might have the same effect on some of you, which would in turn, make me happy.

Olsen Hair.

I love love love the Olsen twins' boho, perfectly messy hair. I have naturally wavy/curly hair when it's left to dry, but when does anybody ever let their hair dry naturally in winter? Uh. never. WAY too cold and time consuming. haha.

This is the closest I can get, without bleaching obviously...Still think theirs is better... :)

Anybody ever managed to achieve anything like the Olsens? And if you have, how and which products did you use?

Lush obsession much?

Argh, I am becoming obsessed with Lush at the moment...I have quite sensitive/dry skin, and this stuff actually makes a difference..so why wouldn't I indulge a little? ;)

On Sunday i picked up these things...

This is the soap "Sweetie Stack" (Around £7.49), which includes (from the top) "Should I Coco?", "Rockstar" and "Honey I Washed The Kids". I can't even begin to explain how good these smell, so I can only suggest you take my word for it or get in the shop ASAP and buy these babies. They're SO worth it, they leave u smelling and feeling amazing.

This is "Buffy" and it's a body butter. It doesn't look at pretty as the soaps, but it's amazing. It exfoliates your body and has shea butter in it, so it also leaves your skin feeling silky smooth...you almost don't need to moisturize after the shower. Would highly reccommend for anyone with dry or sensitive skin.

There are hardly any blogs (that i've seen) that have Lush reviews . Does anyone else have an obsession with Lush?

NARS Orgasm dupe for £2.

So, If you have an ALDI shop near you, you're in luck. ALDI is a gert cheap supermarket with imported food produce (thus making is so cheap, but cheerful none the less). I was helping out with the weekly shop (as you do) when i came across their makeup section...i used to whizz past this...but on this ever so boring day I decided to have a little look. I was seriously amazed by the quality and price of the makeup they had. I bought a lipstick for £2, an underye concealer pen £2 (comparable to Yves St Laurant "Touche Eclat"...no joke) and lipgloss, an eyeshadow duo (which is so pigmented i swiped it and couldnt get rid of the colour on the back of my hand...like NARS) Then i spotted the blusher...This particular one is called "Sunset". I noticed it looked alot like NARS blush, so as it was only around £2 i thought "Oh eck..whyever not".

This blush is amazing...When i have it on my cheeks, i wouldn't be able to tell the difference between it and NARS Orgasm, and this is the tinyest fraction of the price. They don't look identical in the pans...but on the cheeks..you seriously wouldn't be able to tell any difference. It comes in a cute compact with a mirror and a brush (Although i wouldn't advise you to use the brush for application)

PLEASE go and buy it, you'd be stupid not to. :)

Sorry, swatches are a tad rubbish..but you get the general idea..both give off the same effect.

Topshop Make up | Lipsticks

As most of you may be aware, Topshop released their own makeup range in 2010. Although it didn't really interest me at the time, over the past year I have grown quite the collection. There may not be a vast array to choose from, but what they do have, is of excellent value for money, and spot on in my book. I grew very bored of high street makeup, and Topshop came along just at the right time, and injected a bit of excitement back into my makeup bag, without me having to break open the piggy bank.

I'm going to do a series of blog posts on the different items that I own from the Topshop Makeup range, but first up, is my absolute favourite, the lipsticks.

Nevada, Desert, Pillow Talk, Brighton Rock, Ohh La La, Infared, Rio Rio, Beguiled

When Mac bumped up the price of their lipsticks to £13.50, I knew it was probably time to find a good substitute, as I am a huge sucker for lipsticks but couldn't possibly carry on buying them at £13.50 a pop (except on special occasions, or very rare, expensive, rainy days). There is not one thing I can fault with Topshop lipsticks, they tick every box in my opinion. Cute yet sturdy packaging made of metal, rounded with flat top and bottom, making it easy to store standing upright. They have names. Yes, slightly strange that this is even taken into consideration when reviewing a lipstick, but don't you hate lipsticks with numbers instead of names, they almost lack in personality...poor numbered lipsticks. Not to mention how difficult it would be to remember when out looting them. They have great pigmentation (nothing worse than no colour pay off) They aren't drying, and don't leave your lips chapped beyond repair, but also have great staying power. They're only £8-£9 & although this may seem pricey for a high street lipstick, there are plenty in Boots or Superdrug in the £7-£8 mark (Revlon for example) so it's all relative. I also think the quality is comparable to Mac's, so at £8, it's a great replacement.

Infared, Desert, Nevada

Brighton Rock, Rio Rio, Beguiled

Ohh La La, Pillow Talk (Part of a collection)

It's obvious to many of you which is my favourite of all the shades I own, as it is mostly all I wore through the summer, and that's Infared. I'm tempted to do a whole blog post about that in a little more detail.

If you're a lipstick sucker like me, and feel a little bored with what's available on the high street and in the pharmacies, but can't quite stretch to a Mac or Chanel lipstick but want something with a little bit of class, then check out the Topshop lipsticks. They are my new obsession & they are slowly breeding in my lipstick tin.

Back on the blogging scene

Yes, that's right. I am officially BACK. For those of you who may not have noticed, I haven't really managed to do any proper blogging in a while, or videos for that matter. This was because my ever so broken and ropey (but trusty and long lived - to some extent) Dell laptop, finally decided enough was enough. Once I started introducing it to DSLR images and HD video, it refused to co-operate, but tried it's damned hardest to soldier on through, until the day it turned off, and never turned back on again. Poor Dell (note to self - never buy another Dell, fell to absolute pieces towards the end).

I knew for a while, that once my laptop was dead and buried, I would convert to a Mac. I always hear so many good things about them, and know an awful lot of people who use them and absolutely love them. As a fair few people have said to me "Once you go Mac, you never go back". So today, after trying to rally up the last of the "new laptop" funds, I popped my MacBook cherry. I'm still getting to grips with it all, but I'm absolutely loving it so far. Expect to be reading and seeing a lot more of me here on my blog and on my YouTube from now on :)

Summer Photo.

I was searching through the endless amount of photos on my computer when i came across this image from summer, not meaning to sound big headed but i love my makeup in the photo...and i just can't remember what i wore to give me the glowy bronzed look...It really annoys me when that happens.. as im always changing my routine, and using different highlighters, bronzers, foundations, primers...damn..i guess i'll never know.

Anyone else ever have this problem? eek.
P.S I'm on the left

Out of Brush Cleaner?

My brushes we're in desperate need of a good clean, and low & behold, i was totally out of brush cleaner & no baby shampoo.
So, the only thing i could find, which i didn't think would be too harsh on the brushes, was this Dove hand wash.
I dampened each brush under luke-warm water, added a pea sized amount to the bristles, and lathered it up in my hand. I then rinsed & repeated if it was needed.
The first thing i noticed, was how amazingly well it took out any staining, this hand wash went beyond any other brush cleaner i've used & removed EVERYTHING.
It's been a long time since my brushes have looked new & white.

After leaving them to dry, i noticed how incredibly soft they were. I even think they were softer than when i first bought them. I spent ages brushing them over my face in amazement.
Then came the time i had to use them and dirty them up, it was very hard, but i managed okay with the reasurrance this hand wash will still be by my sink for when the day comes to re-wash. :)

I'm not sure of the price, nor where you can purchase this. I'm going to point out the obvious places like Boots & Superdrug & say it's probabaly the price of a standard hand wash, but in all seriousness, this worked like a dream.

Thank you Dove, you marvellous bird you.

Want & Love

At work today, i was sorting through some wallpaper samples when i came across a range i absoloutely fell in love with... These designs are by Lizzie Allen, all are hand screen printed. I have never seen anything so cute! The Phone Box is lifesize! They come with a hefty price tag though. sob. damn those designer wallpapers!

Something else I am wanting & Loving is this Disney Couture necklace (14 Ct Gold Plated Magic Castle Pendant). I have been oggling this one for a while, and i keep going back to asos.com to see if it's still there. It always is, i just haven't clicked "add to basket" yet. It's time will come... ;)

Olsens "Influence"

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have always been hugley influencial on young girls and fashion trends. I too, am an Olsen fan. My favourite film was "It Takes Two" (The one that's alot like parent trap!) which i watched when i was about 9 and ever since then I have admired them. Their book "Influence" looks really interesting, It's hugley based on their love of fashion and I think it's great that not only do they look great, but they certainly know what they're talking about when it comes to style. I have ordered this and am really excited to start reading it!

My Everyday Makeup

I thought I would do a little post about the makeup I currently use on a daily basis. I always get into a little routine with the same products then once I get bored, I'll switch it up a bit and change the colour products around like lipstick, blush and eyeshadow. I've been rocking a dark or bright lip for so long, that I wanted to dull it down a bit and go a bit more natural. I'm enjoying it a lot. I feel like my face looks a bit more fresh. These are the current products i'm using!

Nars Sheer Glow in "Mont Blanc"
Maybelline FitMe Concealer in "Light"
Erase Paste Concealer in "No.1"
Sleek Blush Face Contour Kit in "Light"
Sleek Blush in "Mirrored Pink"
HD Brows Kit in "Vamp"
Estee Lauder Eyeshadow Duo in "Raisins"
Benefit "They're Real" Mascara
Stila Smudge Stick in "Damsel"
YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick in "13 - Peach Passion"

I hope you enjoyed this little update. I love having a nosey into everyone's makeup bags and I also find it useful to see what others are loving so I thought you'd like to see mine too. I want to review a few of the products mentioned separately as they deserve an individual rave, but for now I thought it'd keep it sweet and simple.

My Most Asked Question...

I absolutely LOVE receiving emails from you all, from simple things like "What font is that you use?" to "I just wanted to say i absolutely love reading your blog & you have inspired me to start my own so thank you" and then there's the "I'm an NW20, which nude lipstick would you recommend? Or even your favourite?"

I enjoy answering these, as i feel i can really help & it makes me happy to think I've given any advice i may have, whether it's all that useful or not.

However, there is one question which is really starting to grind on me.

"How did you get so many followers?"

I know that some of you reading this may have asked this question, and it's not like i will instantly hate you if you have, I just really don't like answering this question.
Firstly because it makes me sad that some girls might think that blogging is only fun if you have lots of followers. This really isn't the case. Blogging, for me anyway, is a hobby. It's just something i like to write about, a way to wind down & to give some advice to those who may want some.
Everyone starts a blog with no followers, i did also.
I didn't ever post a link to my blog in a comment on someone else's blog post, i never emailed people in their hundreds.
I just wrote.
I wasn't all that familiar with followers when i first started my blog, peoples little faces kept appearing at the side, it took me a while to realise these were the people who wanted to see when I'd posted something new.
If you want to gain more followers through self promotion, that's great, there is absolutely nothing stopping you, but are you really going to feel as much pride & satisfaction as you would if you didn't, and these people found your blog on their own, loved it & chose to follow you?

I honestly do not know how i have so many amazing followers, but i value and appreciate every single one. I love all the feedback & i'm blown away with the generosity of some of you.
I totally understand that some of you don't like writing with the feeling nobody is listening to you or reading what you have to say, but is that why you started your blog? I would rather have a handful of loyal followers than 500 people i asked to check out my blog or who followed me because of a giveaway.

Hopefully, every single one of you like to read what i have to say. Obviously, i never get 2700 comments on every post, but i certainly wouldn't expect that. Some people might be following purely for the Lush reviews, some for the FOTD's, some just for lipstick help...there will loads of different reasons, but that's just the fun of it. We're all very different, and people will your follow your blog for different reasons. Hey, i might even have some pervy middle aged man called Baldwin following my blog who likes my ears & i would never know haha (kinda creepy...)

If you ask this question in the form of some advice, just be yourself, enjoy what you're writing & appreciate every follower you have..even if you only have 3, this doesnt mean you are a failure. Blogging is not about failing and winning & it's not a popularity contest. These 3 people like to see what you write, even if they don't comment, so don't make them feel worthless by complaining of only having 3 followers. *sob* That is honestly, the only advice i can give you.

I hope nobody takes offense to this blogpost, i just felt i needed to address the issue as my inbox is brimming with unanswered emails all asking the same question. So i'm resolving this in one foul swoop.
Like i said, if you think more followers would make you happy, and you're quite happy asking people to give you shoutouts, then do that. There's no right or wrong way, and people gain happiness through different things. I'm just happy i have a place to express a passion in my life & i find it really enjoyable :)

Love Lush.

Okay, so for Valentines day, My boyfriend also bought me these two things from Lush..

We have...
  • Heavanilli Massage Bar - This smells SO good, My bedroom is benefitting from that! Lush describes this as "Sweet delicious Vanilla Fountain fragrance - tonka bean, jasmine and heaps of vanilla absolute" It melts on the skin and leaves it so soft.

  • "Yummy Yummy Yummy" This is a strawberries and cream scented cream wash. It really is yummy yummy yummy.

After This, I was thouroughly impressed with Lush's products, I've been in the shop thousands of times (Enticed by its overwhelming smell from across the road) but i haven't ever bought anything, apart from the odd bath bomb or holiday box for my mum. So i went online Monday night (http://www.lush.co.uk/) and read up about all the different products...I seriously had so much fun. haha. I ordered a few things i thought looked good, and the package came today! It was wrapped in paper and looked gorgey! And I love that they had a sticker on it saying who had packaged it all. It was like opening a present on my birthday, I did have to delve through masses and masses of popcorn to find anything, but hey, It's more eco friendly than bubble wrap!

This is what I got:

  • "Sympathy For The Skin" - A banana custard body cream. I could eat this!
  • "Mask of Magniminty" - A deep cleansing clay mask with aduki beans, evening primrose and peppermint oil.
  • "Skin Drink" - Rehydrating moisturiser with sesame, almond and evening primrose oils, rose and aloe vera.
  • "Catastrophe Cosmetic" - Fresh Face mask with blueberries rich in beneficial anti-oxidants and full of vitamins and minerals.
  • "Angels On Bare Skin" - Angelic medieval rose & lavender Cleanser
  • "Melting Marshmallow Moment" - A luxury bath melt

For better descriptions check the website, If you want me to review any of these products let me know :)

Spending Moolah.

I picked up these goodies last week...

(Sorry for the crapola picture...)

  • "Redhead" MSF: Love this, it works as a blush and a highlighter and is the perfect shade for my skintone...although i don't have a red-head but the brunette MSF was more of a bronzer.
  • "Blackground" paint pot: I have wanted this for a while, and it was between this or the brown one, but i thought this would be good for a smokey eye effect. I tried it out last week and it really makes colours pop, and smokey eye is even easier with this used as a base.
  • Brush 226 (Small tapered blending): This is amazing, it's the perfect size for blending in the crease. I was put off by the 224 as it was too big for my eye, and now MAC have come up with this one..a must have!
  • Brush 165 (Tapered Cheek/Highlight): Again, another amazing brush by MAC, I have wanted them to bring one out like this for ages, so obviously I had to buy it. Makes applying highlighter as easy as pie.
  • NARS "Hula Hula" eyeshadow duo: My boyfriend bought me this as part of my valentines present. I love it. The Girl at the counter had this on, and it looked fab! On the Nars website it is described as "Strawberry with gold particles and hazelnut with gold glitter particles" Although I think it's more gold than hazlenut.
  • GOSH "Bananas" Velvet Touch Liner: I bought this after watching Lollipop26's video on youtube, She wore it in the corners of her eyes and it looked fab!

Drool...

I was in Harvey Nichols last week, when i spotted this beaut! Although it did kindof stand out from the rest...ha! Not subtle at all...which is why i like it. I have the tendency to play it safe with handbags, in fact most of mine are brown...grey...mushroom..etc etc But occasionally i'll go a little wild and buy something completely outrageous. I love love love this cluth bag, and it's a really satisfying weight (haha) It was around £800 so I said my goodbyes, and we parted. :( Goodbye Alexander McQueen clutch...*waves*
I then carried on round to the perfume, and was happily surprised to see the John Galliano perfume, which, by the way A* for the packaging JG! John Galliano is one of my favourite designers, and it's easy to tell he's a designer from the packaging, even the box is amazing! BUT when i sprayed it...as much as i desperatley wanted to fall in love with the scent so i could buy it, i didn't really like it. My boyfriend nicley described it as "Older woman scent". Damn.
